VIDEO: Portugal Street Artist Collaboration
Irish Curator Kelly Murtagh living in Vilamoura, Portugal contacted me via Facebook to see if I would be interested in bringing The Lost Warhols to Portugal. I agreed to 10 artists that summer mostly from Portugal for a pop-up gallery. Here is how it manifested with a vision and a couple words from the curator.
I am honoured to bring to Vilamoura this wonderful collaboration of art between so many established Portuguese and international artists. It was my vision to make an exclusive collection of works for the first edition of ART Vilamoura - something that we could enjoy and celebrate in the spirit of Andy Warhol. It has been so enjoyable watching this project blossom week after week and seeing it come to life as a valuable legacy for our community.
Each of the eleven established artists have created a photograph in their own style making the Portugal Collection of “The Lost Warhol’s” a truly unique set of artworks. This is LA based artist Karen Bystedt’s first inaugural European exhibition, a truly avant-guarde experience in the art of collaboration.
I set up Omey Project’s in 2015, bringing to Portugal the Algarve’s first urban contemporary art consultancy. We specialize in the hospitality and leisure industry with a spirit for curating “The Story of Art”. Bringing new art experiences and events to the Algarve is something we are very passionate about. Our special partnership with Vilamoura World in creating the V-Art concept stamps the beginning of our commitment to promote the arts in the Algarve.
We hope you enjoy our exhibition as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
